Universal Zulu Nation's 40th Anniversary



On November the 12th 2013 in the Institute of European Culture (Adam Mickiewicz University) was organized course of turntablism – art of manipulating turntables like an instrument. DJ SFUJ CZŁOWIEK (DJ SC). Dj SFUJ CZŁOWIEK belongs to The Universal Zulu Nation Official Chapter Poland. Zulu Nation is a international hip-hop organization formed by Afrika Bambaataa in 1973.

During the workshop students become acquainted with DJ equipment and art of manipulating sounds and creating music using phonograph turntables and a DJ mixer. The program focused on history of turntablism and fundamentals of scratching, beat juggling and cutting.  


A student of the Institute of European Culture awarded Scholarship programme for the student of the human sciences of the Foundation of Prof. Bronisław Geremek Centre


   Dorota Wachowiak, third-year student of European Communication, has been awarded the Scholarship programme of the foundation of Prof. Bronisław Geremek Centre. It is granted from 2011 accrues to few outstanding students of the humanities from Poland. Congratulations!

   Programme for outstanding the 3rd and 4th year students from whole Poland whose major is: history, political science, European studies, sociology, psychology, philosophy, journalism or social communication. Project is implemented in cooperation with Polish-American Freedom Foundation, PZU Foundation and Polish American Enterprise Fund.

A meeting with the Master


"A meeting with the Master" was the watchword of an event held on November 6th, 2013, at the AMU Institute of European Culture in Gniezno, which promoted the fourth, one-of-a-kind volume in the monographic lecture series "Opuscula Gnesnensia." With over a hundred pages, the publication entitled "Nie tylko o historii... Rozmowy z Maciejem Serwańskim", offers a unique record of conversations between dr Filip Kubiaczyk and his Master.

Africa from the kitchen


Scientific circle Pelegrinus organizes a conference entitled "Africa from the kitchen" on 29 November at 11:00 AM in the auditorium. Lectures will be conducted by Professor Wieslaw Olszewski, Małgorzata Karbowiak and Maciej Madej. The conference will be combined with a tasting meals from Ethiopia and an exhibition of photographs from Africa.
