Internet access in the students’ hall

Internet access is possible only via EduRoam network.

Eduroam project is aimed to ensure internet access to the user by means of wireless (or in rare cases wired) network on the premises of any scientific institution participating in the project.

At the European College, user can connect to the internet via eduroam by means of:

- Wi-Fi – only in the main building

- Ethernet cable – in each bedroom in the students’ hall

- one of the computers at the IKE library

In order to connect to the internet in the students’ hall, you have to have your own standard Ethernet cable with RJ-45 plugs. Such a cable is available in every computer hardware store and shopping centre. If your device does not have such a socket, you can buy a USB network card. Devices with Wi-Fi capability only will not work in the students’ hall. Routers you may have brought will not work either as the network card needs to be configured manually.

Once the cable is plugged in, every page will redirect the user to , where you will find instructions how to configure the connection on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Linux platforms. This requires a certificate to be installed and several changes of options in the properties of your network card, as per instruction.

A temporary account can be set up for guests. If you require one, please contact IKE front office or office for students’ affairs. Each account is assigned to one person, who bears the entire responsibility for their online activity.

IT Desk may be contacted from Monday to Friday between 7 AM and 3 PM.
